PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief Guillermo Eleazar assured that the police is 100-percent prepared to secure the last State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Duterte next week.

The National Capital Region Police Office already finalized the security preparations and deployment plans for the SONA on Monday, July 26. The COVID-19 situation was among considerations in finalizing the SONA security measures.

Some 15,000 police officers will be deployed to secure the Chief Executive’s SONA.

The PNP has not monitored any threat to the SONA but Eleazar assured that all personnel are ready to respond to any eventuality.

The NCRPO has said it will use body-worn cameras to help monitor the movements of suspicious persons who may be planning to disrupt the SONA.

PGen Eleazar asked for the public’s cooperation, urging groups planning to stage mass actions to conduct their activities virtually or online.
