THE Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) led by Senator Manny Pacquiao on Saturday signed an alliance with two political parties based in Visayas and Mindanao.
Ron Munsayac, executive director of Pacquiao’s PDP-Laban faction, shared via Facebook that the People’s Champ Movement (PCM) and Probinsiya Muna Development Initiative (PROMDI) have expressed support to the senator to establish a union which they called as the “MP3 alliance.”
“The alliance agreement was signed by MP3 alliance head Sen. Manny Pacquiao, PDP-Laban Chairman Sen. Koko Pimentel, PROMDI President Mimo Osmeña, and PCM legal counsel Atty. Gacal,” Munsayac said.
While PROMDI is a provincial political party based in Cebu City, the PCM is a General Santos and Sarangani regional political party which, according to Pacquiao himself, is presided by one of his siblings.
It can be noted that the PDP-Laban wing led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi has earlier warned that Pacquiao may potentially be expelled from their party, should he continue to transform PCM into a national political party.
On September 7, the Cusi-led wing has also filed a petition before the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), requesting to declare Pacquiao’s faction as illegitimate.
Pacquiao, however, insisted that they are the legitimate representatives of the PDP-Laban ruling party.
