The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) has denounced the insistence of the House of Representatives’ Tri-Committee (TriComm) on summoning vloggers and social media influencers perceived to be pro-Duterte, calling it a form of harassment and a violation of free speech.
As a party that upholds constitutional rights, PDP-Laban strongly opposes any attempt—whether direct or subtle—to suppress free expression. The party emphasized that this right is more crucial than ever in holding the government accountable for corruption, abuses, and irregularities.
“The House of Representatives should focus its time and resources on improving the worsening lives of ordinary Filipinos instead of conducting hearings meant to intimidate and harass supporters of the former president,” PDP-Laban stated.
The party also criticized the House’s failure to uphold constitutional rights during the controversial QuadComm hearings, where resource persons were allegedly detained if their responses did not align with the panel’s expectations.
“This harassment of ordinary Filipinos must stop. The House must prioritize urgent national concerns, such as rising prices of basic commodities and the deteriorating law and order situation,” the statement concluded.
