Good news! Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) fans can now watch the league’s 45th Season games, currently being held at the Angeles University Foundation (AUF) Sports Arena and Cultural Center in Angeles, Pampanga, and be part of the stadium audience.
Virtually, that is.
The PBA said that starting today, October 15, basketball fans can now watch the games virtually via the huge virtual fan wall, which was initially used for families, PBA officials and staff, and the media.
The original date for the opening of the fan wall is on October 16, but a heavy clamor from fans, mostly from the Barangay Ginebra faithful, prompted league officials to move it to an earlier date.
It is because Barangay Ginebra will clash with Blackwater at the 6:45 p.m. main setto, while Phoenix Super LPG and Northport duke it out at the curtain raiser at 4 p.m.
An interesting sidelight in the PBA “bubble” even before it started was how Barangay Ginebra fans will be able to make noise, considering that the team usually thrives from the energy fed by its throng of die-hard fans, their so-called “Sixth Man.”
Its victory last Sunday over the NLEX Road Warriors showed that they can.
Links on how to register and become a virtual fan will be posted at the PBA’s social media sites daily. However, PBA Commissioner Willy Marcial said that virtual fan slots are on a first-come, first-served basis.
