Olongapo City — Incumbent Mayor Atty. Rolen “Lenj” Paulino Jr. is emerging as the frontrunner in the 2025 Olongapo City mayoral race, just four days ahead of the elections, according to early trends and local political observers.
Paulino is currently leading the polls against three other candidates: businessman Arnold Vegafria, incumbent Vice Mayor Jong Cortez, and Barangay Gordon Heights Chairperson Etchie Ponge, a former STL operator, who is trailing at the bottom of the race.
Analysts attribute Paulino’s strong performance to his consistent leadership, infrastructure development, and inclusive economic policies that aim to benefit all sectors of Olongapo society.
“We will continue to serve our constituents, especially those in urgent need of healthcare solutions,” Paulino said in a recent statement.
Addressing concerns about the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital, he added: “We are working gradually to resolve the issues. I ask the public for patience. Reforms in the hospital system cannot happen overnight, regardless of who becomes mayor. But rest assured, we are already taking steps to improve its services.”
Supporters commend Paulino for his “tuwid na serbisyo” and for programs that have enhanced local governance and stimulated economic growth.
As the campaign season reaches its final stretch, Paulino maintains a clear lead while his rivals scramble to close the gap.
Meanwhile, the race for vice mayor remains tight, with Dr. Lugie Lipumano, Councilor Kay Legaspi and Councilor Rodel Cerezo locked in a neck-and-neck battle.
