Pamilya Ko Partylist champions “LOVABLES” inclusion in Filipino family laws

Olongapo City, Zambales — The Pamilya Ko Partylist is advocating for the formal inclusion of “LOVABLES” in the definition of the Filipino family as part of their legislative agenda.

During a campaign rally led by mayoral candidate and renowned businessman Arnold Vegafria, Pamilya Ko Partylist representatives Atty. Anel Diaz and Miguel Kallos underscored the need for family-inclusive laws that recognize all forms of modern family structures.

Diaz and Kallos explained that “LOVABLES” stands for Live-in parents, OFW parents, Victims of domestic abuse, Adoptive families, Blended families, LGBTQIA+ parents, Elderly and Extended families, and Single or solo parents.

Using Vegafria’s rally as a platform to reach Olongapeños, the partylist shared their plans to push for laws promoting inclusivity and equal rights once elected into office.

Diaz outlined key legislative proposals, including the recognition of equal rights between children born in and out of wedlock, and the enactment of a Domestic Partnership Law. This law would grant long-time live-in partners rights similar to those of married couples, such as inheritance rights and the authority to make critical medical decisions in emergencies.

“Many Filipinos still view live-in partners as having no legal rights, unlike married spouses,” Diaz noted, emphasizing the urgent need for change.

Additionally, the partylist aims to propose legislation on regulated surrogacy, intended to assist childless couples while preventing human trafficking and exploitation in the surrogacy process.
