The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical, Astronomical Space Administration (Pagasa) warns of possible flooding and landslides in mountainous areas in Nueva Ecija and Eastern Bulacan in the event of a sudden rise of the Pampanga River due to the continuous rains caused by typhoon “Pepito”.
Based on the latest monitoring by the Pagasa Pampanga River Basin Flood Forecasting and Warning Center at 1 pm on Tuesday, the observed average basin rainfall in the river remains normal.
But according to Nestor Nemis, senior weather specialist of Pagasa, if it rains more in Central Luzon especially tonight, the water level is likely to rise.
Areas that could be affected are the whole of Nueva Ecija; La Paz, Bamban, Capas, Concepcion and Tarlac City in Tarlac; DRT, San Miguel, San Ildefonso, San Rafael in Bulacan; The Angat River also covers Norzagaray, Angat, Bustos, San Rafael, Baliuag, Pulilan and Plaridel.
Flooding is also possible in Candaba swamp, San Luis, San Simon, Apalit, Calumpit, Malolos, Hagonoy, Paombong, Macabebe, Masantol and nearby towns.
