P26 million worth of ‘marijuana’, seized in Quezon City

Over 200 kilos of “marijuana” were seized in a drug bust operation conducted at a busy street along EDSA in Balintawak, Quezon City on Sunday morning, November 29, 2020.

In a report to National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Police Brig. General Vicente Danao Jr., Lt. Col. Hansel Marantan, the Regional Intelligence Division head and other operating units from Regional Drug Enforcement Group (RDEG), Special Operations Unit (SOU) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) stormed an establishment where stacks of said illegal drugs were found.

At least three individuals were also arrested in the raid namely Dianne Irene Rodriguez Cambalicer, 37 years old, businesswoman and proprietress of Rommel and Dianne Wholesale and Retail store located in Barangay Apolonio Samson, Balintawak; Louie Mark Cuballes Cuerdo, 29 years old, driver from Inspiro Relia Global Shared Services and Angelo Buenaventura Pascual , 22 years old.

Investigation disclosed that the buy-bust operation was held along EDSA Highway in Barangay Apolonio Samson in front of KKK Heavy Equipment and Supply at around 7:40 a.m.

A total of 217 blocks of suspected dried marijuana leaves each weigh 1 kilo per block and estimated to be worth of P26,040,000.00 were confiscated from the suspects.

The contrabands along with the three suspects were brought to Camp Crame.

Meanwhile, NCRPO Chief Danao said that the operation was the result of intensified and intelligence word by the mentioned operatives as support to the flagship program of their commander in chief President Rodrigo Duterte on the war versus all forms of illegal drugs, criminality, and corruption.

“Iba’t ibang ahensya at units ang nagtutulong tulong upang sugpuin ang paglaganap ng mga lahat ng uri ng droga, kasama na ang marijuana. Dahil sa maayos na koordinasyon at pagpaplano, nakasisiguro akong marami pang bigtime sources, distributors, peddlers o sellers ang ating mahuhuli sa kamay ng batas,” said Danao.

He assured the general public that Team NCRPO is always on guard to keep  communities safe  against all forms of irregularities amid the pandemic in the country and  calling on the general public to help and cooperate with the authorities by reporting and or providing with information that could lead to the apprehension and prosecution of those involved in various criminal activities even if it involves personnel within their ranks  in the police force; through SMS hotline numbers Isumbong Kay RD NCRPO O915- 888-9181 for GLOBE and  0999-901-8181 for SMART, Danao concluded.
