THE Department of Health (DOH) recorded 1,409 new COVID-19 infections, much lower than yesterday’s 2,087 count, according to the DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued today, November 9, 2021.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country to 2,806,694 cases.
Active cases, on the other hand, went down further to 30,544 cases today after registering a 32,077 count yesterday. Active cases or patients are those undergoing treatment in government hospitals and temporary quarantine facilities.
Recoveries from COVID-19 today, meanwhile, went slightly down with 2,941 new recoveries compared to yesterday’s 3,510. Overall, COVID-19 recoveries in the country have reached a total of 2,731,583 cases.
The DOH also logged 46 COVID-19 fatalities today compared to yesterday’s 91 deaths to bring the total COVID-19 deaths to 44,567.
However, the DOH noted that the lower deaths logged today is due to technical issues encountered with COVIDKaya.
Positivity rate today, meanwhile, was at 5.4 percent, slightly up from yesterday’s 5.2 percent based on 30,716 people who were tested.
Around 68.7 percent of the cases were mild and asymptomatic, the DOH bulletin noted.
A total of 9 duplicates were removed from the total case count, of which 8 were recoveries.
There were also 46 cases that were tagged earlier as recoveries but were reclassified as deaths upon final validation.
All laboratories were operational on November 7, 2021 while 14 laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the 14 non-reporting laboratories contributed, on average, 1.6 percent of samples tested and 2.0 percent of positive individuals.
The agency continues to remind the public to ensure their safety and to strictly observe safety protocols and to have themselves vaccinated as soon as possible. It also reiterates that the safety of the country is everyone’s responsibility, and that by helping each other, the country will overcome this COVID-19 pandemic.
