Online sales surge proof of Globe’s robust internet nationwide

The twin shopping sprees called 11.11 and 12.12 by retail shopping sites like Shopee produced unprecedented record-breaking sales. It announced that its year-end shopping sale had a whopping 12 million items sold in the first 24 minutes, with one million items bought in one minute!

With the massive surge in online holiday shopping and the need to stay physically distanced from one another especially in a season of gatherings, Filipinos remain well-connected and equipped with constantly improving internet connectivity to buy essentials, send or receive presents, and prepare for holiday feasts at home in the middle of a pandemic.

According to the latest report on mobile data experience by independent analytics firm Ookla®, Globe has been keeping up with the increased demand of Filipinos nationwide for better data experience with LTE performance in download speed from October – December 2020 to date, at 14.01Mbps.

“Online shopping and online payments this holiday season show Filipinos are increasingly adopting new digital platforms.  Our continuous network improvements will further provide our customers with an enriching experience as they discover new ways of using digital technologies,” said Gil Genio, Globe’s Chief Technology and Information Officer.

Prior to December, Globe scored high on satisfaction scores when it comes to stability and consistency of its network in the independent survey by Kantar last November, the Philippines’ leading marketing research agency. The survey involved 1,200 male and female respondents aged 13 to 65 years-old, across urban regions nationwide from varying economic conditions.

“This proves that our network is able to meet the speed and data demands of Filipinos even during the peak season of online shopping and other activities that require stable internet connectivity,” Genio added.

The company strongly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly UN SDG No. 9 which highlights the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development. Globe is committed to upholding the 10 United Nations Global Compact principles and 10 UN SDGs.
