THE Philippine National Police (PNP) said it won’t arrest those who will violate the “No Vaccination, No Ride” policy currently being implemented by the government.
This assurance was given by Police Colonel Roderick Augustus Alba, PNP spokesperson, amid the increased presence of police personnel in the streets to enforce the policy that bars unvaccinated individuals from taking public transportation.
Alba emphasized that any arrest will be done only if there are particular offenses against the law committed by the offender.
He said the directive given by the PNP leadership was to assist the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in preventing individuals from taking public transportation if they fail to show a vaccination card.
However, Alba said that those who do not have a vaccination card will still be allowed to board public transport as long as they have an acceptable reason such as a valid medical condition or if availing of essential goods and services.
