Nigeria scored the biggest upset win in their basketball history by pulling a 90-87 victory over the star-studded Team USA in Las Vegas, Nevada today.
Team USA is hosting a five-game exhibition schedule in its quest for the Olympic gold medal in Tokyo this month. Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard and the rest of the Team USA faced the Nigeria squad that features eight players that are currently in the NBA. Heat youngsters KZ Okpala and Precious Achiuwa join Timberwolves forward Josh Okogie for Nigeria.
Nigeria’s Dave Vincent scored the game-high 21 points including the two clutch freethrows in the last 13 seconds of the game. Durant led the way for the Americans with 17 points where 10 of these scored in the last 2 minutes of the game.
In the 2012 London Olympics games, Team USA spearheaded by LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Durant and the late Kobe Bryant dismantled Nigeria, 156-73.
