THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has designated Police Colonel Roderick Augustus Alba as Acting Chief of the PNP Public Information Office and PNP Spokesperson.
Alba, a member of the Philippine National Police Academy “Tagapagpatupad” Class of 1992, took over from Police Brigadier General Ronaldo Olay, who was promoted to be part of the PNP Directorial Staff as Acting Director for Logistics, according to PN Chief, Police General Guillermo Eleazar.
Alba was handpicked by no less than Eleazar to be part of his personal staff as PNP spokesperson, who will serve as mouthpiece and publicist of the PNP.
“My marching orders to Police Colonel Alba are to sustain PNP pubic information programs with utmost transparency and public accountability by ensuring public right to information; and to promote public information consciousness among PNP Units and personnel,” according to Eleazar.
Alba was formerly the Deputy Director for Administration of the PNP Information Technology Management Service (ITMS). He was previously the officer-in-charge of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO), Provincial Director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), Chief, Regional Operations and Plans Division of the Police Regional Office 6, and other command, staff and training assignments as a senior PNP officer.
