“New” Manila Zoo eyed as vaccination site for seniors, youngsters

THE local government of Manila is eyeing to use the refurbished Manila Zoo as vaccination site for senior citizens and children aged 5-11 years old as the national government looks to start vaccinating them by the first week of February..

The city government said that with the opening of Manila Zoo, they thought of using it as a vaccination site and to enable the elderly, including the children, to explore the newly rehabilitated zoo since it is an open-air venue, according to Manila Mayor Francisco Domagoso.

He said that only 500 up to 1,000 people are allowed to enter Manila Zoo to ensure that health protocols are strictly enforced and followed.

The Department of Health (DOH) earlier said they are expecting the arrival of Pfizer vaccine on the last week of January, which will be used to vaccinate kids under the 5-11 year-old bracket.

The Manila Zoo vaccination site will be open to both residents and non-residents of the city.

The zoo underwent massive rehabilitation and was recently opened to the public.
