THE Palace announced the appointment of two new executives for the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
Rep. Roger Mercado from Southern Leyte replaces former DPWH head Mark Villar.
Villar resigned his post recently and then filed his candidacy last week to run as senator in next year’s local and national polls.
Meanwhile, Romando Artes was designated as the new general manager of the MMDA.
A lawyer, Artes, who served as MMDA assistant general manager for finance and administration and co-chairman of the Metro Manila Film Festival, takes the place of former MMDA GM Jojo Garcia, who will run for a congressional seat in San Mateo, Rizal.
The Palace said it is confident that the new DPWH secretary and new MMDA GM “will continue to oversee the completion of their departments’ programs in the remaining months of the Duterte administration.”
