THE Department of Health (DOH) recorded 2,605 new COVID-19 infections today, slightly higher than yesterday’s 2,376 count, according to the DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued today, November 7, 2021.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country to 2,803,213 cases.
Active cases, on the other hand, are down to 33,526 cases today after registering a 34,866 count yesterday. Active cases or patients are those undergoing treatment in government hospitals and temporary quarantine facilities.
Recoveries from COVID-19 today, meanwhile, went slightly down with 3,901 new recoveries compared to yesterday’s 5,130. Overall, COVID-19 recoveries in the country have reached a total of 2,725,257 cases.
The DOH also logged 191 COVID-19 fatalities today compared to yesterday’s 154 deaths to bring the total COVID-19 deaths to 44,239.
Positivity rate today, meanwhile, went down to 5.2 percent from yesterday’s 5.6 percent based on 48,450 people who were tested.
Around 71.7 percent of the cases were mild and asymptomatic, the DOH bulletin noted.
A total of 13 duplicates were removed from the total case count, of which 9 were recoveries.
There were also 151 cases that were tagged earlier as recoveries but were reclassified as deaths upon final validation.
All laboratories were operational on November 5, 2021 while two laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the two non-reporting laboratories contributed, on average, 0.5 percent of samples tested and 0.5 percent of positive individuals.
The agency continues to remind the public to ensure their safety and to strictly observe safety protocols and to have themselves vaccinated as soon as possible. It also reiterates that the safety of the country is everyone’s responsibility, and that by helping each other, the country will overcome this COVID-19 pandemic.
