THE OCTA Research Group said that the National Capital Region (NCR) continues to be under “very low risk” status for COVID-19 even with the presence of the more transmissible Omicron variant and increased movement of people during the holiday season.

In its report released today, Tuesday, an average of 79 cases per day from December 14 to 20 were recorded in the NCR, or about six percent lower compared to the December 7 to 13 period.

The report also mentioned a time-delayed reproduction number of 0.48 and an average daily attack rate (ADAR) of 0.55 cases per day per 100,000 population.

Meanwhile, positivity stood below 1 percent at 0.6 percent despite the average 18,127 number of tests done daily in the region.

Currently, OCTA said Quezon City and Manila are the only two cities out of the 17 in the region that reported a double-digit average of new cases.

LGUs in the region reported lower than 30-percent occupancy rate for COVID-19 patients in hospitals, while Muntinlupa, Quezon City and Malabon said it has more than 30 percent occupancy rate in intensive care unit (ICU) beds.

On the other hand, Pateros remains to be COVID-19 free during the period cited.
