The implementation of general community quarantine (GCQ) in Metro Manila has been extended again until December 31, 2020.
In a public address, President Rodrigo Duterte also placed under GCQ the following:
- Batangas
- Iloilo City
- Tacloban City
- Lanao del Sur
- Iligan
- Davao City
Meanwhile, Duterte placed the rest of the country under modified GCQ (MGCQ) where community quarantine rules are more relaxed but minimum health standards must be followed.
Metro Manila mayors earlier recommended the retention of GCQ until the end of 2020 to prevent a possible surge of COVID-19 cases especially during the holiday season.
