THE National Bureau of Investigation-Death Investigation Division (NBI-DID) recommended the filing of eight counts of murder against personnel from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) before the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Charged were PMaj. Lymel John Pasquin, PSSgt. Rannel Gadiano, PSSgt. Christian Mercarsos, PCpl. Laurence Antiporta, PCpl. Jhunben Alegado, PCpl. Jayson Anonuevo, PCpl. Rosanie Bernales, PCpl. Michael Boco, PCpl. Rolex Borgonia, PCpl. Jophy Buot, PCpl. Gilwen Garcia, PCpl. Edmar Gerra, PCpl. Archie Grapa, PCpl. Vernardo Into, PCpl. Ener Restauro, PCpl. Banedy Solante, PCpl. Jernie Tiongzon, Jan Uy, Pat. Roland Duran, Pat. James Aninapon, Pat. Rey Fernandez, and Dr. Beverly De Guzman before the Department of Justice, Manila.
The filing of charges was based on the suspicious death of high-profile Persons Deprived of Liberty (PsDL), namely, Francis Go, Shuli Lim Zhang, Jimmy Ang, Eugene Chua, Benajamin Marcelo, Sherwin Sanchez, Amin Boratong, and Willy Yang.
The NBI conducted the investigation on the alleged death of Jaybee Sebastian, and eight other high-profile PsDL, who allegedly died of COVID-19 or its complications while isolated inside the facility of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City, the control of which was under the members of the NCRPO security and medical teams.
