THE Department of Health (DOH) said there is no reported case yet of the sub-lineage of the highly transmissible Omicron variant in the country.
According to DOH spokesperson and Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, the BA.2 or the Stealth Omicron was first discovered last week since the first Omicron variant of the COVID-19 was first detected in the country.
However, Vergeire said that up to now, they have yet to detect a case of the stealth omicron in the Philippines.
Vergeire assured that the Philippine Genome Center has the capability to pinpoint and detect Omicron sub-lineage.
The World Health Organization and other experts are still studying BA.2 or stealth omicron.
