THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) said that more than 7 million voters were deactivated or their voter registration cancelled for the coming national and local elections.
Based on data released by the Comelec, included here are the 7,229,493 voters who failed to vote in two consecutive elections.
Around 2,718 people will also not be allowed to voted after they were declared by authorities and experts as having mental problems or do not have the capacity to decide.
Meanwhile, around 3,993 were declared excluded or will not be allowed to vote based on a court order while 536 were given their final sentence by the court since they will be incarcerated for not less than one year and thus will not be allowed to vote.
Also, 755,769 voters were removed from the voters’ list due to death.
Among them were those who died due to COVID-19 since information about their death was immediately forwarded to the Comelec.
