ALL chiefs of police and unit commanders were ordered to ensure the deployment of enough number of cops to terminals and ports to secure the anticipated public exodus to the provinces as the country observes All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Guillermo Eleazar said that despite the pandemic, they expect more people will flock to the provinces to be with their relatives and loved ones. “Many more people will surely try to go home starting today until Sunday to be able to home to their home provinces.”
He likewise instructed police units to be extra vigilant to ensure an orderly situation in terminals, ports and airports as more people will travel going to their provinces.
PGen Eleazar stressed the importance of the observance of health and safety protocols in these areas to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
He also reminded the public to be ready with the necessary documents for their trips.
“We advise the public to prepare their documents that may be asked from them in their destination. Before we travel, we should find out beforehand the travel requirements in our destination since provinces and municipalities have different travel guidelines. This is to avoid delays and hassles,” PGen Eleazar said.
Meanwhile, PGen Eleazar advised the public not to insist on pushing through with plans to still visit cemeteries, memorial parks or columbariums, which have been ordered closed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government until November 2 to avoid problems with authorities.
