THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is still studying the possibility of bringing back a policy of arresting motorcycle lane violators amid the less stricter quarantine restrictions.
During the Laging Handa public briefing, MMDA Director Neyomi Recio said that with the increase in the number of vehicles plying EDSA and other main thoroughfares, they are still thinking over wether to bring back the implementation restrictions on violations on the use of the motorcycle lane.
Recio pointed out that when the pandemic started and public transport became scarce, many people opted to buy motorcycles.
The MMDA stopped apprehending those who do not follow the motorcycle lane but they might bring it back if traffic becomes heavy.
Meanwhile, Recio said they will not implement yet the truck ban since the flow of traffic under Alert Level 1 in the National Capital Region is still manageable.
The MMDA official also mentioned that because of the lifting of the truck ban, more truck were able to travel and this helped in the country’s economy.
