The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) Special Task Force Operation conducted a clearing operation along the service road in Roxas Boulevard in front of the Baclaran church in Paranaque City.
The MMDA personnel even found several vehicles illegally parked in front of the church and were promptly issued traffic tickets.
Ret. Col. Memel Rojas, head of the Special Task Force Operation of the MMDA said that parking of vehicles in front of the church is strictly prohibited.
Rojas revealed that there are barkers in the area that help facilitate parking in the area and are charging parking fees.
The barkers immediately left the area upon seeing the approaching MMDA personnel.
Rojas appealed to motorists going to church to look for legal parking spaces to avoid being issued a parking ticket and pay a P2,000 fine for illegal parking.
Rojas can’t help but pity the devotees who go to church and when they leave, they will be issued a ticket for illegal parking. However, Rojas said they can’t do anything but enforce the law.
