Meycauayan City starts COVID-19 inoculation

THE city government of Meycauayan has started its COVID-19 vaccination program wherein 88 frontline health workers from the Meycauayan Doctors Hospital (MDH) were among the 182 who registered to be vaccinated and the first recipients in this city of the AztraZeneca vaccine held inside the said hospital on Wednesday.

The kick-off activity of the COVID-19 vaccine roll-out in Meycauayan was administered by Ruby Ann Solo and Wrenz Gerald Agustin, both MDH staff nurses, and witnessed by City Mayor Linabelle Ruth Villarica and City Health Officer Dr. Abelardo Bordador.

The first doctor who was inoculated was MDH Director Dr. Cesaro Ira, 72 years old, wherein the inoculation was held at the covered court of Marymount Professionals Colleges located inside the MDH compound in Banga, Meycauayan City.

Villarica said the top priority recipients of the vaccines in the city are the health workers from the MDH to be followed by frontliners from the other private hospitals such as Nazarenus Hospital and Marymount Hospital with a total of 664 more health workers.

It was learned that there are 983 more frontline health workers that the city government of Meycauayan has in public level and still counting for late registrants.

The first in Bulacan who received the vaccine from the drugmaker Sinovac Biotech were Dr. Hjordis Marushka Celis, chief of the Bulacan Medical Center (BMC) and Provincial Health Officer II, followed by Dr. Jose Emiliano Gatchalian, BMC Hospital Training Officer and Alma Villena, BMC Nurse Supervisor, which was held early this month.

Governor Daniel Fernando on Tuesday night issued an Executive Order enjoining strict monitoring and compliance with minimum public health standards effective today (March 17) until April 17, 2021.

Coinciding with the executive order, the provincial capitol on Tuesday noon temporarily closed the building until Wednesday for disinfection after two of its security guards tested positive of COVID-19 while four others were placed under home quarantine.

The Bulacan Police headed by Col. Lawrence Cajipe was instructed by the governor to strictly enforce the minimum health and safety protocols as well as implementation of the uniform curfew hour in the entire province.

He also ordered to tighten the border quarantine checkpoints where it shall be recommencing and strictly implement border control policies in order to effectively contain the COVID-19 at the critical areas particularly in the entry/exit of Bulacan-Manila.
