THE Marcos administration will match and continue the war on drugs campaign of former President Rordrigo Duterte.
However, new Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos assured that the implementation of the drug war campaign will be done based on the tenets of the law.
When asked if the war on drug will be bloody just like the past administration’s version, Abalos replied that the campaign will be all out just like before, but will also follow the rule of law.
As regards the investigation that the International Criminal Court (ICC) will conduct on the Philippine National Police (PNP) in relation to cases of killings under the former drug campaign, Abalos said this will still be discussed during the next Cabinet meeting.
The DILG and the Department of Justice, Abalos said, will do its best to increase the number of drug convictions and will support police personnel who will be facing charges in relation to the government’s war against illegal drugs.
According to Abalos, he will join police operations against drug syndicates, and will also focus on the drug trade inside the country’s jails.
