Mandaluyong starts COVID-19 vaccination for 12-17 year-olds at first mall-based vaxx site

THE City of Mandaluyong conducted its pediatric A3 vaccination yesterday, October 22, 2021 at the SM Megamall Pediatric vaccination site.

The vaccination site is the first one in Metro Manila that is located inside a mall.

Priority for the vaccination are children with comorbidities such as chronic respiratory diseases, obesity, cardiovascular disease, genetic and neurologic conditions, and renal disorders.

Mayor Menchie Abalos with City Health Officer Dr. Arnold Abalos were present to lead the vaccination, accompanied by other city officials.

Pfizer vaccines is one of only two brands approved by the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to be used on minors, were deployed to prioritize children at the site and Mayor Abalos advised parents to stay with their kids at all times during the vaccination process.

Parents who want to have their kids vaccinated can register them via the MandaVax online portal (https://mandavax.mandaluyong.gov.ph) and enter their household code. Also, parents must bring the medical certificate that indicates the comorbidity of their child, proof of relationship–birth certificate, baptismal certificate, etc.–and valid IDs of both parent/guardian and child.

Data from the City Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (CESU) revealed that about 7,000 children were registered at the city’s MandaVax online portal.
