Man killed by mentally ill son in Davao

DAVAO CITY — A horrifying fate befell 60-year-old Loloy Barlis, who was beheaded in Barangay Madaum, Tagum City, Davao del Norte, on Sunday afternoon.

Police found the victim’s lifeless body at his home, headless and with most parts of his body mutilated.

Authorities arrested the suspect, who turned out to be the victim’s son.

According to the police, the son even placed his father’s internal organs in a frying pan and threw some parts onto a tree.

The victim’s head has not yet been found.

Police Lt. Col. Wildemar Tiu, chief of Tagum City Police, stated that a commotion was reportedly heard from the father and son’s house before the crime occurred.

Neighbor Teresa Laurente said the suspect almost attacked them with a bolo after killing his father.

“The father was very quiet. He didn’t like conflicts. Loloy was very kind, easy to get along with. He would even come home to bring food for his son. But his son killed him,” Laurente said.

The suspect will undergo a drug test.

Based on police investigations, the suspect believed to have mental health issues.

The police will file criminal charges againsts the suspect.
