In his lecture, he explained that safety is everyone’s responsibility and that the safety practiced by the public utility driver becomes the safety of everyone on the road.
He emphasizes that human error is more to be blame for the majority of road accidents that such incidents are preventable.
He noted that reports coming from news organizations have mentioned that failing brakes were common cause, highlighting the need for proper vehicle maintenance.
One of his recent recommendations is to have professional drivers attend refresher seminars to reorient them on rules and regulations and to learn additional skills such as first aid so that they can be helpful should an accident occurs.
He also said that fatigue from working long hours is a major factor in road crashes.
Under the modernization and consolidation programs, drivers could have well-planned shift schedules to prevent fatigues.
Enumerating the risk factors in road crashes, Guadiz ranked speeding as the number one, followed by failure to use seatbelts, drugged or drunk driving, and distracted driving.
He also reminded attendees that be mindful of their driving, be alert at all times to avoid accidents.
