Landslide displaces 32 in San Pedro City; Matibag couple, other agencies extend immediate aid

San Pedro City, Laguna — A landslide triggered by heavy rains brought by Typhoon Crising struck Barangay Sampaguita late Thursday night, July 17, displacing 32 individuals from 7 families.

Upon learning of the incident, Laguna First District Representative Ann Matibag and her husband, Atty. Melvin Matibag, immediately rushed to the site to personally check on the affected residents and offer assistance.

The couple distributed grocery packs to help the families meet their immediate needs while national agencies prepare further interventions.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) provided ₱10,000 in cash assistance to each affected family.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) handed out hygiene kits as part of the ongoing relief efforts.

Local authorities are currently assessing the extent of the damage and identifying additional needs of the displaced families, as heavy rains persist in the region.
