Department of Justice Undersecretary Markk Perete resigned from his post effective immediately, Thursday.
Perete cited personal and serious reasons for his resignation.
“After much thought, I have decided to submit my resignation from the DOJ effective today due to serious reasons,” Perete said in a text message.
“My reason are very personal and I humbly request for everyone’s understanding. Thank you,” he added.
Perete, who graduated from UP College of Law in 2006, was appointed as spokesperson by Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra in November 2018.
