A hard-hitting journalist was shot and killed by unidentified assailants in the town of Villasis, Pangasinan Tuesday morning.
The shooting took place at around 6:30 a.m. while Virgilio Maganes was just outside his residence in Sitio Siclab, Barangay San Blas, when two armed men riding in a motorcycle suddenly approached and shot him several times.
Maganes died on the spot after sustaining gunshot wounds to his head and other parts of his body.
It was learned from previous report by local police wherein Maganes was first assassinated in Dagupan City on 2016 but luckily survived.
He writes in the local newspaper Northern Watch and anchors a local radio station in the area.
Maganes, being a hard-hitting journo as described by his former colleagues over the rampant corruption in some local government agencies the main reason behind his murder.
Authorities are still investigating the incident.
