INSULAR Life (InLife) Executive Chairperson Nina Aguas opened this year’s Asia Women’s Forum 2022, which was held yesterday, January 27, 2022.
Organized by the Asia CEO Forum, the event bore the theme: “Teach a woman to fish and she’ll feed the world,” and was featured Live via the Asia CEO Forum Facebook page at 10:30 am.
In her opening remarks, Aguas shared how a remarkable woman in her family was able to go beyond humble beginnings and ensured all her children were educated and able to conquer the world.
Aguas currently heads InLife, the country’s largest and only mutual Filipino life insurance company. Before joining InLife, Aguas already had a career in retail and private banking that spanned over three decades. She has managed global, regional and country-level businesses and operations in large international companies across both developed and emerging markets in the Asia-Pacific and the US.
She became part of InLife as Chief Executive Officer in 2016 and eventually became the Executive Chairperson in 2018. In both instances, she was the first woman to hold these esteemed positions.
Under her leadership, InLife delivered its highest financial performance, boosted its digital capabilities, embraced a new brand, and established the InLife Sheroes, a movement for women empowerment that promotes financial literacy, health and wellness, risk-mitigating solutions for women and provides connections to business and social networks.
For her work in the company’s transformation, Forbes Asia named her as one of Asia’s Power Businesswomen in 2019, while Business Insider called her one of the 10 leaders transforming finance in Asia in 2020.
She also recently received the 2021 Citi Alumni Award for Leadership and Ingenuity for her outstanding leadership across the financial services industry and her devotion to the advancement of gender equality in the sector.
The Asia Women’s Forum featured inspiring women who all talked about how they tore off the restraints to achieve extraordinary lives.
