THE mayor of the City of Iloilo said the city is taking a leap toward herd immunity, saying a large number of its people are already fully vaccinated.
In a Facebook post, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said they have already given full vaccination to about 92.11 of the city’s target population.
The city is now ranked first in areas outside of Luzon the National Capital Region (NCR) in terms of its vaccination rollout.
“We are taking a leap toward herd immunity,” Treñas’ Facebook post said.
The vaccination still continues in the city, Treñas pointed out, and expressed the city’s readiness to provide booster shots to the people. He said they already purchased vaccines from the different pharmaceutical companies to fast-track their vaccination program, including the booster shots, once the government gives the go-signal to proceed.
The mayor also commended his vaccination team and acknowledged the support of the community in efforts to end COVID.
