Iloilo airport terminal upgrades now 60% complete — CAAP

PASAY CITY — Rehabilitation and improvement works at the Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) of Iloilo International Airport have reached 60 percent completion, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

CAAP reported that several key components of the upgrade have already been completed, including the installation of four escalators, a Flight Information Display System (FIDS), and repairs to the airport’s baggage handling system. New gang chairs and luggage trolleys have also been added to improve passenger comfort.

Aside from that, three chillers were already installed, which are crucial in enhancing the terminal’s cooling and ventilation system.

According to CAAP, the ongoing improvements form part of the government’s broader airport modernization program aimed at upgrading airport infrastructure nationwide, in line with the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez.

The steady progress of the Iloilo International Airport terminal improvements reflects CAAP’s commitment to providing safer, more efficient, and passenger-friendly airport facilities,” CAAP Director General Retired Lt. Gen. Raul del Rosario said. “These enhancements are designed to improve the overall travel experience.”

CAAP said the rehabilitation is being carried out in phases to ensure uninterrupted airport operations and to minimize inconvenience to passengers and other airport users while construction activities continue.
