IN a display of solidarity with Filipinos severely impacted by recent typhoons, the House of Representatives, under the leadership of Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, has committed to observing a modest and meaningful Christmas celebration this year.
Secretary General Reginald S. Velasco issued a memorandum requesting all offices and departments in the legislative chamber to adopt austerity measures for their holiday activities. Officials and employees have also been encouraged to embody the true spirit of Christmas by participating in donation drives and initiatives aimed at supporting affected communities.
These measures align with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call for heightened sensitivity and unity in addressing the needs of calamity-stricken Filipinos. By prioritizing compassion and generosity, the House hopes to extend tangible support to those rebuilding their lives in the wake of recent disasters.
This move underscores the government’s commitment to showing empathy and fostering resilience during the holiday season, ensuring that no one is left behind in the spirit of giving.
