THE government announced that it raised to 7,000 the deployment cap for nurses to other countries.
The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) approved the request of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to increase the deployment cap for healthcare workers who wish to work overseas.
The IATF released Resolution No. 153 which raised the yearly deployment ceiling for nurses, nursing aides and nursing assistants.
The DOLE initially pegged a 5,000-deployment cap, which was further increased June of this year to 6,500.
However, the increase was suspended after reaching its limit.
IATF Spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said nurses whose visas will expire on December 31, 2021 will be given priority in terms of processing and issuance of their Overseas Employment Certificates or OES.
