THE government is eyeing to put a stop to the National Vaccination Days, the fourth one of which was held very recently.
National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC) chairperson, Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje, said during the Laging Handa public briefing that instead, they will just focus on areas particularly in the provinces with low vaccination coverage.
According to Cabotaje, they will be more aggressive inn providing vaccine supply and in conducting vaccinations in these areas.
She said that here in the National Capital Region (NCR) and in other areas that are already under Alert Level 1, they have already achieved 70-percent vaccination coverage, and 70-80 percent coverage for the A2 priority group.
With this, Cabotaje said they hope other areas can catch up in terms of vaccinating their target population so that they will be also put under Alert Level 1.
She said the objective in focusing vaccination in other provinces is to help lower the number of COVID-19 cases aside from increasing vaccine coverage.
However, Cabotaje clarified that even if there are no more new national vaccination days, administration of COVID-19 jabs in vaccination centers in local government units (LGUs) shall continue.
This is why they continue to convince other Filipinos who have not yet taken the COVID-19 jab to have themselves vaccinated by their LGUs.
