Global death toll from COVID-19 reaches 1.24 million

The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) deaths worldwide has reached to 1.24 million.

According to the latest figures, a total of 1,248,779 people from various countries have died due to the infectious disease.

The United States still leads with the highest number of casualties due to COVID-19 with 242,230 deaths; followed by Brazil with 162,035.

There were 125,605 deaths in India while 94,323 deaths in Mexico.

Meanwhile, here are other countries and territories around the globe with their death tolls

– United Kingdom – 48,475

– Italy – 40,638

– France – 39,865

– Spain – 38,833

– Iran – 37,409

– Peru – 34,783

– Argentina – 33,136

– Colombia – 32,405

– Russia – 29,887

The latest data also shows that a total of 49,667,697 people have been infected with coronavirus in different countries and there are 35,254,724 total recorded recoveries.
