THE four Filipino crew members aboard a Korean vessel that collided with a Taiwanese ship off the Solomon Island are now undergoing quarantine in Taiwan, and is expected to be home by next week.
This development was announced today by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
The four Filipino crew members are among the more than 30 crew members who survived after their vessel collided with a Taiwanese vessel last June 8, 2022 in the Pacific Ocean between Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.
During the Laging Handa public briefing, OWWA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac said the four crew members are currently in quarantine in a hotel in Taiwan and are safe and in good condition.
They were already visited and assisted by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Taiwan, wherein they were provided their requested food and other basic necessities.
Cacdac said they are constantly monitoring the condition of the four Pinoy crew members identified as Mark Anthony Camense, Jovencio Mariano, Jhoecel Asturias and Marielo Bautista.
