THREE people, including two children, were killed and two others were injured when their car slammed into a tree along Roman Highway in Limay, Bataan early Friday morning.
The victims were identified as Dyanne Bebit, 31 years old, Shinjie Mae Javier, 11 years old, and Mark Lenz Javier, 2 years old, all residents of Barangay Alangan in Limay. They were pronounced dead on the scene by the Limay Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) medics who responded to the incident.
The driver of the car, Reggie Castillo Javier, 39 years old, and his daughter Shantel Layne Javier, 13 years old, survived the crash and were rushed to Bataan General Hospital for treatment. Their condition is unknown as of press time.
According to the initial report from the Limay Municipal Police Station (MPS), the family was onboard a 1995 Mitsubishi Lancer sedan with plate number UDP293 registered under the name of Lester Rebeta Ramin of Las Piñas City. They were traveling from Limay town proper to Barangay Alangan when the accident happened between 2:30 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. on Saturday.
The report said that the car veered off the road and hit a tree near the Limay Public Employment Service Office (PESO). The impact caused severe damage to the car and fatal to the occupants. The police are still investigating the cause of the crash and whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Limay MPS chief, Major Dennis Duran, appealed to the public to drive safely and follow traffic rules to avoid similar tragedies. He also expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and assured them of assistance from the local government.
