THE Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) warned that establishments found guilty of dumping wastewater in Manila will face closure aside from court charges.
During the Laging Handa public briefing, acting DENR Secretary Jim Sampulna said they are now conducting a widespread saturation drive among establishments near Manila Bay, with the objective of identifying which of them are discharging wastewater into Manila Bay.
Sampulna said the saturation drive is also part of their objective to clean up and further improve water quality of Manila Bay.
For now, Sampulna said they are still waiting for the report to be submitted by the four representatives sent by the DENR’s 16 regional offices conducing the saturation drive.
