Duterte appoints new SSS prexy, deputy Ombudsman for the Visayas

MALACAÑANG confirmed today that President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed a new president for the Social Security System (SSS).

The new SSS president is Michael Gonzales Regino, according to Acting Presidential Deputy Spokesperson Kris Ablan.

Regino is a former representative from the labor sector to the Social Security Commission, the policy-making body that oversees the state-run pension fund.

He replaces former SSS President Aurora Cruz Ignacio, whom Department of Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III said was moved to the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) as board member.

Meanwhile, Duterte also appointed a new Deputy Ombudsman for the Visayas, Dante Florez Vargas, who will have a fixed term of seven years.

Vargas replaced former Deputy Ombudsman Paul Elmer Clemente.
