DTI assures no price hike on Noche Buena products

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has assured consumers that there will be no price increase on Noche Buena products this December.

DTI- Bulacan Provincial Office Director-in-Charge Ernani M. Dionisio said, manufacturers agreed not to increase suggested retail prices (SRPs) of Noche Buena products amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent devastating typhoons that affected the lives of many Filipinos.

Last November, the DTI released the SRP list for Noche Buena products which will be effective until a new SRP list will be published next year.

Among the Noche Buena products included in DTI’s SRP list are ham, fruit cocktail, cheese, sandwich spread, mayonnaise, keso de bola, spaghetti pasta, elbow and salad macaroni, spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, and creamer.

SRPs of some brands, however, will be valid for specific periods, such as 410-milliliter Angel Kremdensada, will be valid from November 15 to December 31, 2020, only, all Dole and Seasons products are also valid for the entire December only, and Today’s Mixed Fruit and 3-kg Del Monte Fiesta in Extra Light Syrup are also valid only from December 15 to 31, 2020 only.

SRPs apply nationwide and apply to both supermarkets and wet markets.

Before buying products, Dionisio reminded the consumers to check the expiry date and price tag, read the labels carefully and compare competing brands, and ensure that the item price and price at the cashier are the same and if prices differ, pay the lesser amount.
