THE Department of Justice (DOJ) said it will form a separate team to focus on issues related to vote buying and vote selling in this year’s national and local elections.
The team will serve as support to the inter-agency task force being formed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to deal with vote buying and selling concerns.
According to DOJ Secretary Sec Menardo Guevarra, the team will be composed of representatives from the National Prosecution Service, the National Bureau of Investigation, Public Attorney’s Office and the DOJ Action Center.
This initiative is in recognition of the significance and importance of the upcoming elections for the country’s survival and recovery.
Guevarra said he will task the group from the DOJ to give the campaign against vote buying and selling its highest priority in the next 40 days.
