THE Department of Health (DOH) logged a total of 27,331 new COVID-19 cases in the country from August 1 to August 7, 2022.
This means that the daily average of COVID-19 cases for the period shot up to 3,904, which is 13-percent higher compared to the daily average posted from July 25 to 31.
Among the new cases, 76 were tagged as severe and critical.
Meanwhile, 80 fatalities were recorded, wherein 32 of the cases succumbed to the disease from July 25 to August 7, 2022.
On August 7, 2022, 772 cases admitted in COVID-19 hospitals were placed under severe and critical condition.
Among the 2,514 ICU beds for patients with COVID-19, 624 or 24.8 percent of the beds were occupied. Meanwhile, 30.9 percent of the 21,548 non-ICU COVID-19 beds are currently being utilized.
Also, more than 71 million individuals or 92.06 percent of the target population are already vaccinated against COVID-19, while 16.6 million individuals received their booster shots.
On the other hand, 6.7 million senior citizens or 77.90 percent of the target A2 population have already received their primary series.
