THE Department of Health (DOH) confirmed today that there is a dengue outbreak in Zamboanga City.
According to DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III, it was the local government of Zamboanga City that declared the dengue outbreak.
The Zamboanga City government said dengue cases in the city have already reached more than 2,000 wherein 19 have died from January 1 up to May 14, 2022.
Duque said it was reported to the DOH that the dengue outbreak response is ongoing to prevent the increase in the number of cases.
The response is focused on the 4S strategy or “search” (search and destroy mosquito-breeding sites); “self-protection” or protection by wearing long pants or dresses with long sleeves; “seek early consultation” or consult a doctor upon the advent of symptoms; and “support” by means of fogging and spraying.
Duque said that dengue fast lanes have already been created to make sure a quick response to cases and reduce possible complications and death to victims.
