Though below the feared 10,000 mark, Day Two of the second version of the Enhanced Community Quarantine registered more than 9,000 new COVID-19 cases today, says the latest bulletin of the Department of Health (DOH).

DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin #381 revealed a single-day count of 9,296 new COVID-19 cases today to bring the total number of active cases to a 124,680 total.

This brings the number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 741,181 overall.

New recoveries, on the other hand, were recorded at 103 to bring total recoveries to 603,310, while only 5 people died today for a total of 13,191 COVID-19 deaths.

Of all the cases, about 98.3 percent are either mild (96.0 percent) or asymptomatic (2.3 percent).

Active cases are treated at hospitals and other facilities, where the rise in COVID-19 cases means it will go to full capacity. This is why the DOH, together with the rest of the government, continues to call on the public to strictly follow minimum public health standards (MPHS), suspend non-essential travel and stay home as much as possible, and ensure strict adherence to existing safety protocols.

With the spike of COVID-19 cases in the country, the DOH stressed that strict implementation of the Prevent, Detect, Isolate, Treat and Reintegrate (PDITR) strategy of Local Government Units, together with continuous adherence to the Minimum Health Protocols of the public, can help cut down COVID-19 transmission.

Again, the public is called on to wear their masks properly, and to observe other preventive strategies, AT ALL TIMES and IN ALL SETTINGS—even at home. The DOH continues to emphasize that the number one objective right now is to ensure care is not hampered nor delayed for COVID and non-COVID patients.
