COVID-19 update: More than 7k cases added today; lower active case count noted

The Department of Health (DOH), in its latest DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin # 409 issued today, April 27, 2021, 7,204 new COVID-19 cases were added today, bringing the overall count to 1,013,618 cases.

There were also 10,109 recoveries and 63 deaths recorded today, according to the case bulletin.

In the overall tally of COVID-19 cases in the country, 7.1 percent or 71,675, are active cases and are currently being treated in hospitals and other treatment facilities. This number is still below the 74,623 active cases registered yesterday.

On the other hand, 91.3 percent, or 925,027, are recoveries, while 1.67 percent, or 16,916, are deaths.

The DOH also noted that 14 duplicates were removed from the total case count, with eight tagged as recoveries.

Also, 26 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

On April 25, 2021, two laboratories were not operational while 22 laboratories failed to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).
