Though slightly lower than yesterday, a higher number of COVID-19 cases today was still recorded today, even if the NCR Plus (Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan, Rizal) bubble was placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) status for the past two weeks.
According to COVID-19 Case Bulletin No. 393 of the Department of Health (DOH), 11,681 new COVID-19 cases were added today, which brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 864,868 ever since the pandemic started.
Through Oplan Recoveries, 55,204 were tagged as recoveries to hike the total to 703,404 COVID-19 recoveries.
The number of deaths today reached 201 to bring the total number of COVID-19-related deaths to 14,945.
To date, tne number of active cases in the country has reached a 146,519 total.
The DOH continues to call on the public to collectively observe all health and safety measures for their protection and to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
Malacanang also announced that the NCR Plus bubble (Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite), including Santiago City, Quirino and Abra in Region 2, will be under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) status.
The downgrading of the status will be effective starting tomorrow until April 30, 2021.
